ELIZABETH JENSEN concentrates her practice in school and municipal law with a focus on labor relations, employment and litigation matters. Ms. Jensen has extensive experience representing clients before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. She has negotiated numerous contracts for school districts and counsels clients in the administration of their labor contracts. Ms. Jensen frequently speaks on a variety of labor, employment and school law matters, including Education Reform and its impact on school districts. She authored Chapter 16: Public Employees in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education's publication Employment Termination, 2011 Edition. Before joining the firm in 2011, Ms. Jensen was a partner in a Peoria law firm where she concentrated her practice in school and labor and employment law. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Jensen served as law clerk to Third District Appellate Court Justice Daniel L. Schmidt and was an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Peoria.
Ms. Jensen currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the Illinois State Bar Association, she has served on the Education Law and Labor and Employment Section Councils. Ms. Jensen has also served on the Illinois Supreme Court's Judicial Screening Committee which reviews judicial vacancies for the 10th Judicial Circuit. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Bar Foundation, currently serving as Chairperson of the Fellows Program. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Heart of Illinois Regional Port District. She has served on the Illinois Comptroller's Merit Commission and Local Government Advisory Board, as well as the City of Peoria's Neighborhood Commission. Ms. Jensen has been an active member of the Peoria County Bar Association, serving as Board member and Chairperson of many committees. She is a Master member of the Abraham Lincoln Inn of the American Inns of Court. She served on the Leadership Committee for the annual fundraising campaign for Prairie State Legal Services for several years. Ms. Jensen is a recipient of the Charles C. Schlink Good Government Award, the Judi Lasco Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award from the Center for Prevention of Abuse, and the Peoria InterBusiness Issues 40 Business Leaders Under 40 Award. Ms. Jensen graduated cum laude from Albion College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History, and received her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. Ms. Jensen and her husband have two young boys.
